A lot of people have been Googling for my name, which leads to varied results and the question: Is Luke a writer? A programmer? A hypnotist? An entrepreneur?
The answer is: All the above — at different stages of my life and career. I love to find unique solutions to common problems, and I happen to have a knack for publicizing them.
This website contains a comprehensive list of my ventures from age 14 onward:
Luke's Screen Saver (1996): I only made $50 from this highly customizable screensaver, but that was enough to give me confidence that I could create products of value to other people. It received over 2000 downloads.
Chat Machine: The Virtual Conversationalist (1998): My first foray into artificial intelligence, CM:TVC was a chatbot — a natural language processor and generator that simulated a conversation with a human.
BurmanBooks (2004-2006): After completing a degree in English from the University of Toronto, I co-wrote four self-help books: Intuitive Security for Women by Lloyd Vaughan, Abundance for Life, Love and Money by Linda Gabriel, Seducing Your Woman by Sydnee Steele and The Art of Persistance by Sanjay Burman. More.
The Morpheus Clinic for Hypnosis (2006-present): I founded Morpheus with the goal of providing empirically proven, results-based hypnosis to Toronto. It's still my bread-and-butter business, so I take care of it very well. Since 2009, I've been focusing on training new hypnotists, managing my staff and growing the business. I've been interviewed for Morpheus in the Toronto Star, Lifestyle Magazine, The Eyeopener, CityTV, Slice and CFRB radio. More.
[The hypno-fetishism project] (2007-2008): By contract I can't reveal the details of this project, but it was a fun diversion while it lasted. My business partner and I ran web-based store selling MP3 downloads of erotic hypnosis recordings that turned men into women, people into robots, "forced" them to worship feet, and so on. Hypno-fetishism let me use hypnosis for full-blown sensory guidance in a way that I couldn't with a serious hypnotherapy practice.
Done For You Dating (2009): This was my attempt to make online dating work for busy professionals. Version 1.0 received criticism for its lack of transparency, so version 2.0 (currently in development) seeks to remedy that problem. I've been interviewed for this company by the Washington Post, Marie Claire, NBC and Online Dating Post. More.
Hypnotizr (2011-present): My latest project combines my interest in AI programming with my knowledge of hypnotherapy. We launched a minimally viable product in December, 2011. More.
I'm keenly optimistic about the ability of technology to improve people's lives, so my current and future interests are in the area of automating (roboticizing) tasks that are currently performed by human efforts.
If you want to contact me, please phone or e-mail The Morpheus Clinic for Hypnosis. They know where to find me.
